Adventure racing wouldn’t happen without the volunteers that
turn up race in, race out to do all the behind the scenes and front
of house jobs that racers often take for granted. Volunteers are
a special bunch that we treasure at SARS towers.
Perhaps your other half, brother/sister/mother/father or other
keeps going on about this adventure racing thing and you’re
curious to see what it’s really all about, then why not come
along and see first hand. Helping with the running of a race can
be a really fun and rewarding way of getting to know the ins and
outs of how it all works and what on earth they keep gibbering away
about when they come home all covered in mud.

The jobs are varied but can involve manning checkpoints, helping
with results and scoring, assembling the kayak fleet or any number
of other things. If you have a love for the outdoors and don’t
mind getting stuck in to help solve problems but don’t feel
ready to race yet, then volunteering as a marshal may be a great
day out. To feel the race without doing the race, or maybe to support
your friends on a sunny summer's day, marshalling is great fun.
